Which cosmetics while pregnant?
Pregnancy is a time for many disruptions, in the mother-to-come body as well as in her daily life habits. This deals also with cosmetic ritual. What precautions are needed? What are the peculiar needs of the skin that shall be answered? Some reminders and advice by the CosmeticOBS-L’Observatoire des Cosmétiques experts to live safely this precious period.
Stretch marks: new means of cosmetic action
They affect more than one woman out of two and represent the most worrying skin problem for pregnant women: although they look ugly and often prove irreversible when they are established (on the abdomen, breasts, thighs, hips…), stretch marks are not necessarily inevitable. The processes involved in their formation are now better known, which helps prevent them more efficiently.
Baby ranges: how to make the difference?
How can one distinguish a baby cosmetics brand from all the (numerous) competitors trying to make a name for themselves in this segment? David Tyrrell, of the Mintel Beauty Team, highlights a few key points based on the example of the new range by Sophie la Girafe, a brand that successfully shifted from teething rings to baby skin care.
A new method to assess the tolerance to cosmetics for babies
The paper is signed by three members of the Pierre Fabre Group Safety Assessment Department. They have developed a new method, using artificial urine, which allows the protective effects of diaper-region cosmetics to be ascertained. This study has been released by the Toxicology in Vitro Journal.
How many cosmetics for our babies?
Few are the best! Many dermatologists say it over and over again: the less the baby is in contact with cosmetic products and ingredients, the lower the risk to be in contact with a substance likely to produce an allergy and an irritation. The more we let nature do its job, the less we go against its natural processes of protection, the more harmonious is the development of the baby’s skin.
