An update on GMPs controls in France

Since January 1, 2024 in France, the DGCCRF has been in charge of GMP control in France. But at Cosmed’s 25th Regulatory Congress on March 26, 2025, Vanessa Picot, a real specialist in the subject, having previously been responsible for it at ANSM, came to give an update on the progress of the work and the philosophy under which it is now being carried out.

As usual, the entire DGCCRF team was on hand to present the results of its inspections. While their presentation was in every way similar to the one reported in this article, there was one novelty: and it’s fair to say that seeing Vanessa Picot on the podium of a conference to talk about GMP was a little like “the good old days”…

2024 controls

The task of controlling Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) has therefore been transferred from the ANSM to the DGCCRF on January 1, 2024.
“The first quarter of 22024 was largely devoted to preparing for this mission transfer, both in terms of training to upgrade the skills of DGCCRF inspectors, and in preparing the tools with a view to officially starting our GMP controls on 1ᵉʳ April 2024,” Vanessa Picot said.

The objective for this first year was to inspect around 100 establishments with more than 10 employees throughout France. To date, 90% of these inspections have been completed.
