
On 12 June 2026, Ambroise Pascal, the DGCCRF’s Ecological Transition Officer, and his team, responsible for coordinating the transposition of Directive (EU) 2024/825 into French law, organised a webinar to address the main questions raised by its implementation, following discussions with the European Commission to clarify certain aspects, and focusing on unfair practices relating to greenwashing.
As a reminder, Directive (EU) 2024/825, which aims to “empower cconsumers for the green transition through better protection against unfair practices and through better information,” was published on 6 March 2024.
The implementation
The timetable stipulated that Member States were to transpose it into national law by 27 March 2026 at the latest, with the legislation coming into force on 27 September 2026. “Today is 12 June,” Ambroise Pascal pointed out. “You will note that France is behind schedule. But bear in mind that only nine Member States have transposed it on time…” And indeed, the European Commission has sent letters of formal notice to 20 Member States (including France) for failing to fully transpose the Directive.
Ambroise Pascal then outlined the transposition procedure.
The measure is included in the DDADUE bill – the bill on Various Provisions for Adaptation to European Union Law – which was adopted by the Senate at first reading in February and is due to be considered by the National Assembly in the autumn, although the exact date has not yet been set.
