Phytonadione Epoxide: Request for Opinion to the SCCS
On 25 June 2026, the SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) approved, at its plenary meeting, the European Commission’s mandate to assess the safety of Phytonadione Epoxide (Vitamin K1 oxide). The Scientific Committee has 12 months to issue its opinion.
Cyclamen Aldehyde: Request for Opinion to the SCCS
On 8 June 2026, the CSSC (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) approved, by written procedure, the European Commission’s mandate to assess the safety of cyclamen aldehyde, a fragrance ingredient facing a CLH classification as a CMR 1B. The Scientific Committee has nine months to issue its opinion.
Hydroxycitronellal, Glyoxylic Acid: Requests for Opinions to the SCCS
On April 30, the SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) approuved, by written procedure, two mandates from the European Commission: one concerns the safety assessment of Hydroxycitronellal, and the other that of Glyoxylic Acid.
Acetophenone: preliminary Opinion of the SCCS
Following the opinion of the RAC (Risk Assessment Committee) of the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), which recommended classifying Acetophenone as Rep. 1B, the Commission mandated the SCCS to assess the safety of the substance in cosmetics. The Scientific Committee has just published its preliminary Opinion.
