The European Commission has just published a corrigendum to Regulation (EU) 2022/2195, which introduced new conditions of use for BHT, Homosalate, and Resorcinol. The aim is to correct entry 325 of Annex III to Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, which deals with BHT.

Published on November 11, 2022, Regulation (EU) 2022/2195 amended Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 with regard to the use of the substances “Butylated Hydroxytoluene,” “Acid Yellow 3,” “Homosalate,” and “HAA299” and to correct it with regard to the use of “Resorcinol.”
In particular, it introduced a new entry 325 in Annex III (restricted substances) to define new restrictions for BHT, which came into force on July 1, 2023, for products placed on the market and on January 1, 2024, for products made available on the market.

This entry is corrected by this corrigendum.
A chemical name (2,6-Di-tert-butyl-p-cresol) is added and the INCI name is changed from Butylated Hydroxytoluene to BHT.
The maximum permitted concentrations in the various types of products remain unchanged.
