The JACOP project is organized by GD Grow and EISMEA (European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency).
Funded by the Single Market Program (which covers the cost of testing, sampling and transportation), it consists in coordinating the actions of national market surveillance authorities on selected products.

Products covered

For 2025, this project has targeted 11 product categories, including two types of cosmetics:
• nail polishes: verification of the absence of prohibited substances (Formaldehyde, 2-Methoxyethyl acrylate) and compliance with maximum authorized concentrations for restricted substances (Hydroquinone);
• products claiming SPF: check that the SPF on the label corresponds to the actual SPF in the product.

The timetable

• The operation was launched on March 24, 2025.
• The identification and selection of laboratories to perform the tests will be completed by the end of the second quarter.
• Testing will extend over the third and fourth quarters.
• The report on this operation will be published at the beginning of 2026.
