On March 13, 2026, CEW France held its Beauty Business event. Mathilde Lion, Executive Director of Global Client Development at Circana, presented the 2025 market report on the luxury beauty sector in France.

The beauty market in France is projected to generate €9 billion in revenue in 2025, remaining stable in value terms and showing a slight increase in unit sales (+1%) compared to 2024. These figures appear reassuring at first glance. However, there are significant disparities among retail channels.

Pharmacies remain the market’s growth driver. The selective channel, however, is declining. After three years of growth, the selective perfumery sector is in decline, with a 3% drop in demand in units,“ notes Mathilde Lion. Conversely, supermarkets are seeing positive signs on the demand side, “though they have not yet returned to growth in value.”

France: a rare exception in Europe

Globally, the luxury beauty market continues to grow. The United Kingdom saw an 8% increase, China 16%, Spain 8%, and Italy 6%. France, however, saw a 1% decline. “It’s not that surprising,” the expert notes. “If we look at long-term trends, the rebound we saw at the end of the pandemic merely offset the structural decline that began before Covid. If the beauty sector had continued on the 2017–2019 trend, we would be exactly where we are today.”
