Classifications CLH : deux consultations, une intention

On July 1, 2026, ECHA (the European Chemicals Agency) announced the launch of two consultations on proposals for harmonized classification and labeling (CLH), one for Dimethyl Imidazolidinone and the other for Benzyl Benzoate. It also published a new classification intention for Butyrolactone, a fragrance ingredient.

Dimethyl Imidazolidinone

1,3-dimethylimidazolidin-2-one (CAS No.80-73-9, EC No.201-304-8, INCI: Dimethyl Imidazolidinone) s an ingredient listed in the Cosing, with the functions: Hair conditioning, Humectant, Skin conditioning.
The substance is not currently regulated by European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. It is also not currently listed in Annex VI of European CLP Regulation 1272/2008.

The Netherlands proposes to classify the substance as follows.
