• Safety Gate
The European Commission presented its annual report on Safety Gate on March 5, 2025. The first finding was that of the 4,671 alerts notified, 36% concerned cosmetic products, which were affected much more often than toys (16%) and electrical appliances and equipment (11%).

• SCCS
On March 4, 2026, the European Commission launched a call for applications with the aim of renewing the membership of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), which is responsible in particular for assessing the safety of cosmetic ingredients. Interested individuals (who must have at least 10 years of experience in the field of chemical safety, as well as exposure and hazard assessment) have until May 31, 2026, to apply online for a five-year term beginning on January 1, 2027.

• Assessment of chemical mixtures
