
Dutch company Nuon pushes the boundaries of packaging by integrating innovative technologies such as LEDs and electrostimulation, offering brands new opportunities to combine design and performance. CosmeticOBS spoke to Gregory Pays, Business Developer at Nuon Medical, to find out how beauty tech is gaining momentum in the beauty industry.
CosmeticOBS: Nuon Medical is a young start-up that is not yet well known throughout the cosmetics ecosystem. What makes it special?
Gregory Pays: The idea behind Nuon Medical came from the fact that many brands didn’t necessarily want to add a “device” to their cosmetics offering.
Our aim with Nuon Medical was to remove the obstacles that prevented beauty brands from launching into beauty tech, while remaining consistent with their DNA.
So, with Nuon Medical, we’re not selling a ready-made tool, but redeveloping part of the packaging with technologies that will enhance the results of the formula.
It’s important to add that we have our own factories in China and India. We manufacture all our equipment from start to finish. Nothing is outsourced, which gives us total control over our industrialization process.
CosmeticOBS: How do you come up with your concepts?
Gregory Pays: Our approach always starts with the customer’s brief. Depending on their formula and desired results, our teams are able to come up with an innovative design. Each of our customers gets a unique product tailored to their needs.
