
Bio Logica is a young brand, only a year and a half old, but already with all the makings of a big name. At its helm is an experienced profile: Laurent Blasco, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in physical chemistry and a university lecturer. He also worked for many years in the beauty industry as a formulation manager. CosmeticOBS caught up with him to find out more about this new brand.
CosmeticOBS: What is the concept behind the Bio Logica brand?
Laurent Blasco: The brand name alone sums up my vision and my approach to dermocosmetics. Bio Logica is not a name chosen at random. It’s made up of “bios”, meaning the living, and “logica”, which refers to logic. Together, they form “the logic of the living world”. I’ve been working in the cosmetics, dermo-cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries for over thirty years. Over the course of my career, I’ve noticed that many products on the market still contain synthetic and petrochemical derivatives. These ingredients are effective and safe, but they are sometimes inconsistent with skin ecology. Today, there’s a gap between the nature of the skin and the nature of the formulas we apply to it.
With Bio Logica, I wanted to return to a logic that was more respectful of the skin, drawing inspiration directly from the way it functions. The idea is to design products that resemble it, both in their composition and in their mode of action. This is what I call a biomimetic approach.
