The use of GLP-1, originally intended for weight management, is now influencing the way consumers view ageing, appearance and wellbeing. This is the finding set out by the trend consultancy Kline in its latest report.

A phenomenon that is no longer a niche trend

Around one in eight Americans has already used a GLP-1 treatment. These consumers are particularly committed, showing a marked willingness to invest in their appearance, health and wellbeing.

New aesthetic concerns

Rapid weight loss can lead to unexpected side effects affecting one’s appearance: loss of facial volume, sagging skin, more pronounced signs of ageing, changes to body shape and hair loss. These changes are fuelling a demand that goes beyond conventional cosmetics.

Skin firming, volume restoration, biostimulators and hair regrowth are among the key concerns of GLP-1 users. “For many, the journey does not end once the weight-loss goal has been achieved. It continues into a phase of maintenance and ongoing optimisation,” notes Kline.

Brands are already taking action

Several brands are responding to these needs. Some are launching dedicated products, whilst others are repositioning their existing range. These trends are bringing beauty, wellbeing and longevity closer together.
