On April 2, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a consultation on Germany’s proposal for harmonized classification and labeling (CLH) of Acetyl Hexamethyl Tetralin, a fragrance ingredient. This consultation is open until May 30, 2025.

1-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-3,5,5,6,8,8-hexamethyl-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one (CAS No.1506-02-1 / 21145-77-7, EC No.216-133-4 / 244-240-6, INCI: Acetyl Hexamethyl Tetralin) is an ingredient listed in the Cosing, with the function: Fragrance.
The substance is included in Annex III/182 of the European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, which limits its use to 0.1% in leave-on products (except in hydroalcoholic products: 1%, fine fragrance: 2.5%, fragrance cream: 0.5%) and ti 0.2% in rinse-off products.
It is not currently listed in Annex VI of European CLP Regulation 1272/2008.
