
On October 30, 2025, a decree was issued by the Ministry of Labor* designating Cosmed as the Representative Association for the cosmetics sector in the Collective Agreement for the Chemical Industries (IDCC44). The Association of SMEs in the cosmetics sector issued a press release to share the information.

With its 1,000 members, Cosmed had been lamenting for several years the lack of influence and representation of microbusinesses, SMEs, and mid-cap companies in the French cosmetics industry, even though these types of businesses are in the majority.
This recognition by the High Council for Social Dialogue (HCDS), following a proposal by the Ministry of Labor, gives Cosmed an active and legitimate role in social negotiations and, more generally, in all matters affecting business development. It will enable Cosmed to:
• better represent the specific interests of microbusinesses, SMEs, and mid-sized companies in the cosmetics sector in dealings with public authorities;
• direct participation in collective bargaining negotiations (remuneration, working conditions, training, classifications, etc.);
• contribution to the development of social and labor law in companies.
From now on, the only two representative bodies in the cosmetics industry in France are FEBEA and Cosmed. Cosmed has the largest number of member companies and is therefore the leading employers’ organization in the industry.
