Counterfeiting: Unifab mobilizes vacationers

The Union des Fabricants (Unifab) is back on the campaign trail this summer to alert the general public to the dangers of fake products (including cosmetics). Through an awareness-raising campaign on the beaches and markets of southern France, the association intends to remind the public that “real products have a history”.

From Cannes to Biarritz, via Saint-Tropez, Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, Unifab ambassadors will be reaching out to holidaymakers until the end of August 2025.
Their mission: to tell “the true creative and innovative story behind authentic products” and deconstruct the misleading promises of counterfeits, which “surf on trends.”

A growing scourge

“Counterfeiters are stepping up their efforts to rip off consumers,” stresses Unifab. Behind the word “dupe” used to designate a product inspired by another often lies a counterfeit. “These products disguised as bargains violate intellectual property rights,” the association points out.

Less visible than in the past, counterfeiting is changing form, while retaining its deleterious effects.
According to Unifab, it is responsible for considerable pollution, the dumping of toxic substances and a heavy carbon footprint. Counterfeiting enters “the intimacy of consumers in an insidious way,” particularly through digital channels. And its consequences for health, safety and the economy remain major.

A massive campaign

To combat this phenomenon, Unifab has launched a communications campaign to raise consumer awareness.
The campaign is based on an extensive multi-channel campaign, combining billboard advertising, digital presence, distribution of educational materials and a dedicated platform.
