The substance is not currently regulated by European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.

It is already listed in Annex VI/017-002-01-X of European CLP Regulation 1272/2008, with the following classifications.
• Skin Corr. 1B, H314 - Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.
• STOT SE 3, H335 - May cause respiratory irritation.

Latvia proposes to classify the substance as follows.
• Met. Corr. 1, H290 - May be corrosive to metals.
• Acute Tox. 3, H301 - Toxic if swallowed.
• Acute Tox. 3, H331 - Toxic if inhaled.
• Skin Corr. 1, H314 - Provoque des brûlures de la peau et des lésions oculaires graves.
• Eye Dam. 1, H318 - Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.
With the following specific concentration limits.
• inhalation: ATE = 0.5 mg/L (dust/mist)
• inhalation: ATE = 3.0 mg/L (vapour)
• oral: ATE = 100 mg/kg bw
