This Opinion covers a total of four fragrance ingredients:
• p-cymene; 1-isopropyl-4-methylbenzene; 3-p-cumenyl-2-methylpropionaldehyde; 2-methyl-3-(4-isopropylphenyl)propanal (CAS No.99-87-6, EC No.202-796-7, INCI: p-Cymene)
• 3-(p-cumenyl)propionaldehyde; 3-(4-isopropylphenyl)propanal (CAS No.7775-00-0, EC No.231-885-3, INCI: 3-p-Cumenyl Propionaldehyde)
• 4-isopropylbenzaldehyde; cuminic aldehyde (CAS No.122-03-2, EC No.204-516-9, INCI: Cuminaldehyde)
• 4-isopropylbenzoic acid; cuminic acid (CAS No.536-66-3, CE No.208-642-5).
The HSE proposes the following classifications.
For p-Cymene:
• Repr. 1B, H360FD - May damage fertility. May damage the unborn child.
For the three other substances:
• Repr. 1B, H360Fd - May damage fertility. Suspected of damaging the unborn child.
The RAC Opinion
This Opinion is in line with that of ECHA’s RAC, released in December 2024.

Burgeonal Group

This Opinion covers a total of six fragrance ingredients:
• 2-(4-tert-butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde (CAS No.80-54-6, EC No.201-289-8, INCI: Butylphenyl Methylpropional)
• 4-tert-butylbenzoic acid (CAS No.98-73-7, EC No.202-696-3, INCI: 4-t-Butylbenzoic Acid) ;
• 3-(4-tert-butylphenyl)propionaldehyde (CAS No.18127-01-0, EC No.203-161-7, INCI: 4-tert-Butyldihydrocinnamaldehyde)
• 4-tert-butyltoluene (CAS No.98-51-1, EC No.202-675-9, INCI: 4-tert-Butyltoluene)
• 4-tert-butylbenzaldehyde (CAS No.939-97-9, EC No.247-768-5, INCI: 4-t-Butylbenzaldehyde)
• methyl 4-tert-butylbenzoate (CAS No.26537-19-9, EC No.247-768-5, INCI: Methyl 4-t-Butylbenzoate).
