During the summer of 2025, bananas became a staple in the cosmetics world. Perfumes, moisturizers, lip balms—their scent was everywhere. According to trend agency Kline + Company, global searches for banana-scented cosmetics increased by 58% in July 2025.
“The visual motif of the banana, its bright yellow color associated with summer and lightness, is perfect for capturing attention from afar,” emphasizes the Kline team.
Beyond the image, it is the very substance of the banana that fuels the cosmetic imagination. “The soft texture of this fruit undoubtedly inspires beauty brands to include this fragrance in particularly moisturizing formulas.”
K-Beauty acts as a real trend accelerator. A cult product in Korea, banana-flavored milk remains an essential reference. “Banana milk is considered a cult drink,” recalls Kline. “Its popularity has spread far beyond the world of cosmetics. Back in 2015, Tony Moly launched its banana-shaped lip balm, which has become iconic. More recently, international collaborations have helped amplify the phenomenon. “Glossier collaborated with Magnolia Bakery to launch a banana lip balm, and Prada unveiled its new banana balm in a video featuring singer Sabrina Carpenter,” the report notes.
For Kline, the trajectory of the banana illustrates how quickly an ingredient or fragrance can conquer the market. “The banana is just one example of how quickly a trend can explode.” It remains to be seen whether this craze will be a mere fad or a lasting trend.
