Cosmetics trends looking ahead to 2030

Les tendances cosmétiques à l'horizon 2030

Revieve, a specialist in AI-powered skin diagnostic solutions, has published the second part of its “2030 Beauty Trends” report. The report identifies the changes expected by 2030 in terms of purchasing behaviour and distribution.

The report is not based on a consumer survey. It compiles analyses from several brands and retailers operating in different markets: the Taiwanese subsidiary of the American skincare brand Paula’s Choice, the Mexican pharmacy chain Farmacias del Ahorro, the brands Tropic Skincare, The Inkey List and DR’s Secret, and the Japanese drugstore group MatsukiyoCocokara & Co.

More informed purchasing

According to Revieve, consumers are favouring targeted purchases, based on an understanding of their needs and evidence of effectiveness. “They are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about ingredients. They used to focus solely on effectiveness. They now examine concentration, origin, packaging materials and even environmental impact,” explains Irene Liu, Product & Regulatory Affairs Manager at Paula’s Choice Taiwan.

Skin diagnosis at home

Consumers can now analyse their skin at home, without needing to see a dermatologist or visit a shop. Revieve cites three types of tools: AI-powered online quizzes, virtual product trials before purchase, and sensors or smartwatches that measure skin condition to tailor the skincare routine on a day-to-day basis. The next step involves biometric skincare. Brands are developing sensors and devices connected to apps, capable of recommending products based on hydration levels, pH or exposure to pollution.
