WGSN, in partnership with Coloro, anticipates the color trends that will guide brands in 2027-2028. Two colors from the fall/winter 27/28 palette have been unveiled by the forecasting agency.
Among the five key shades, let’s focus on Russet and Peaceful Lilac.
Russet
This reddish-brown shade brings a sense of familiarity and reassurance. WGSN points out that it evokes “a feeling of security, calm, and continuity,” referring to natural pigments that are firmly rooted in the collective imagination.
Situated between red and brown, Russet draws on organic references (fertile soil, ripe fruit, autumn days) and evokes the idea of cycles and transformation. Its presence in many cultures reinforces its status as a reliable, accessible, and universal color.
WGSN invites brands to use Russet as a new neutral shade. It embodies notions of trust, grounding, protection, stability, and abundance.
Peaceful Lilac
Peaceful Lilac explores another dimension of contemporary expectations: the need for escape, calm, and gentleness. This lilac shade is described as “a color that allows you to escape the ambient noise and access dreamy, soothing, or fantastical worlds.” Both warm and cool, this pastel shade draws on references to rave culture, dance, countercultures, and virtual imaginations powered by artificial intelligence. It stands out for its ability to combine minimalism, subtle energy, and an immersive dimension.
This color is ideal for creating soft or futuristic atmospheres.
