France is consulting on its priorities regarding endocrine disruptors

On 10 April 2026, the French government launched a consultation on a draft set of government priorities and an action plan on endocrine disruptors, with the stated aim of “zero exposure to EDs”. Cosmetics are mentioned several times in the document.

Since 2014, France has been implementing a national initiative to limit exposure to endocrine disruptors (EDs) through two National Strategies (SNPE 1 and SNPE 2), adopted in 2014 and 2019 respectively.
These strategies focused on protecting the population and the environment, and, according to the French government, they have led to concrete progress, notably:
• the “1000 First Days” website, a resource for (expectant) parents to create a healthy environment conducive to a child’s development;
• the creation of the Pepper platform, a public-private partnership to develop methods for better identifying EDs;
• the ban on bisphenol A at European level, following a proposal by France;
• the European requirement to display a pictogram on the labelling of products containing ED substances, as is the case for CMRs;
• France’s leadership since 2022 of the European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC) to improve knowledge of chemical substances;
• over a hundred research projects on endocrine disruptors launched, notably through the Health, Environment and Work Research Programme (PNR EST).
