Methyl anthranilate : Intention de classification CLH

On 6 May 2026, ECHA (the European Chemicals Agency) announced the Czech Republic’s intention to introduce harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) for Methyl Anthranilate, a fragrance ingredient.

Methyl anthranilate (CAS No.134-20-3, EC No.205-132-4, INCI: Methyl Anthranilate) is an ingredient listed in the Cosing, with the function: Fragrance.
The substance is currently not regulated under European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, nor is it listed in Annex VI to the European CLP Regulation 1272/2008.

The Czech Republic intends to propose classifying the substance as follows.
• Skin Irrit. 2, H315 - Causes skin irritation.
• Eye Irrit. 2, H319 - Causes serious eye irritation.
• Skin Sens. 1, H317 - May cause an allergic skin reaction.
