As the holiday season approaches, French consumers are still grappling with tight budgets. According to an OpinionWay poll for Amazon, a large majority are planning their purchases in advance to limit the impact of Christmas spending.

The OpinionWay survey for Amazon was conducted online among 2,662 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over. The interviews took place between September 16 and 26, 2025.

Purchasing power, a major concern

The study reveals a climate of budgetary restraint. 85% of respondents still feel the effects of inflation on their purchasing power, and 78% are actively looking for ways to reduce gift-related spending. 75% cite purchasing power as their main concern, and 64% say they are worried about the cost of end-of-year purchases.

Black Friday as a tool for planning ahead

In this context, Black Friday appears to be a solution for better preparing for the holidays.
68% of French people believe that it allows them to save money, and 67% believe that it helps them plan and organize their purchases. 63% of those surveyed say that Black Friday makes it easier to manage their budget by limiting impulse purchases.

More broadly, Black Friday is seen as a real financial support.
