Slowvember (Deciem group), Black for Good (initiated by Typology), the initiatives to oppose the “shopping fever” of Black Friday are growing in number! The goal? To fight against hyper-consumption, encourage consumers to think about their purchases and buy only what they need. A great program!

Once again this year, the Deciem group (which includes The Ordinary, Niod, and LoOPHA) is taking a stand against Black Friday! On November 28, all stores will be closed and online sales suspended: a powerful gesture to remind us that beauty should not be synonymous with overconsumption.
Instead, Deciem is offering a 23% discount on its three brands, valid from November 1 to December 7, to encourage everyone to shop sensibly and buy only what they need.
Sustainable beauty starts with conscious choices, and the group is inviting everyone to slow down and give meaning back to their purchases.

For seven years, the “Shop Slow” initiative has been opposing the frenzy of sales and promoting mindful consumption. Behind the “bargains” of Black Friday, 92% of promotions are actually already available throughout the rest of the year.
Black Friday has become a frantic race for consumers. Purchases are driven by urgency, flash sales, and limited-time promotions.
In 2024, online sales in the United States on Black Friday reached €10.8 billion (source: Deciem)! This represents a 10.2% increase over the previous year. However, many “promotions” are completely fabricated.
